Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and browser storage used by Rate Finder.
Current status
The Google measurement tag is enabled subject to your cookie preferences. Google may set cookies and process page, click and device information, and a confirmed enquiry may be reported to Google as a conversion.
What the site stores in your browser
- Session storage (no cookie): if you arrive from an ad link, click identifiers (such as Google's gclid) and campaign tags (UTM parameters) are kept only when measurement is permitted in your browser's session storage so they can be attached to an enquiry you choose to send. Session storage clears when you close the browser tab and is not sent anywhere unless you submit the enquiry form.
- Enquiry reference: the site stores a reference in session storage only after a confirmed enquiry save, so the thank-you page can display it.
- Verification session: a necessary, HttpOnly cookie named rf_intake_session binds phone verification to this browser for up to 30 minutes. It does not contain your phone number or verification code.
- Conversion deduplication: when measurement is enabled, session storage records confirmed enquiry references to avoid repeated conversion events.
- Cookie preferences: local storage keeps your visitor reference, choice, country, timestamp and notice version, including previous choices. Google measurement tags remain blocked in consent-required or unknown regions until acceptance. Browser privacy signals and saved refusals take priority elsewhere too.
What the site does not do
- While online enquiries are unavailable, pressing "Compare CD Rates" does not transmit your form answers. No enquiry is submitted or saved.
Your controls
You can clear session storage at any time by closing the tab or via your browser's site-data settings. Because cookie preferences are stored separately, closing a tab does not withdraw consent. Use Cookie preferences in the footer to change or withdraw your choice. Opening settings does not change the current choice. Withdrawal immediately blocks future measurement across open tabs and clears campaign identifiers; already-sent information is not recalled.
