About
How Rate Finder works
Learn about CDs, choose your preferences and send an enquiry to receive CD options.
1. Learn
Our guides explain how CDs work — terms, APY, penalties, insurance — so you can decide what suits your plans. The site doesn't publish live rates or rank institutions.
2. Tell us what you're considering
The enquiry asks for only:
- An approximate savings amount range, your preferred CD term, and your timing.
- Your full name, email address and US phone number.
- Your consent to be contacted about the enquiry.
We never ask for account numbers, Social Security numbers or payment details. If you arrived via an ad, the ad's click identifier (such as gclid) and campaign tags are kept in your browser session and attached to the enquiry so we know how you found us — see the Privacy Policy.
3. Review before anything is sent
Your preferences appear on the contact screen and remain editable using Back. Contact fields stay editable before you press "Compare CD Rates". We send a one-time code by text message to verify your phone number.
4. What happens next
After your phone is verified and your enquiry is saved, your details are shared with a financial advisor working with rate finder, who will contact you to present available CD options based on your requirements. Using Rate Finder is free and there is no obligation to invest. For compensation details, see Disclosure.
What Rate Finder doesn't do
- Accept deposits, open accounts, or act as a bank, credit union or broker.
- Provide deposit insurance — that applies only to eligible deposits at insured institutions.
- Give personalized financial, tax or legal advice.
